Beach Holiday :: Zanzibar Ras Nungwi Hotel

Located on an expanse of beautiful beach wilderness on the northern tip of Zanzibar, and protected by a coral reef, Ras Nungwi is a small and exclusive hotel, ideal for all forms of watersports, or merely relaxing in the temperate water while soaking up the equatorial sun.

In designing Ras Nungwi, great attention has been paid to detail. Natural materials have been used wherever possible, including makuti (palm-leaf) roofing over all structures, creating the feeling of freedom that is only possible in an open-air environment. An eco-sensitive approach has ensured that the delicate balance of the land and sea flora and fauna has been preserved.

The proximity and variety of the surrounding reefs makes Ras Nungwi the perfect diving destination, and the hotel has an on-site fully equipped watersports centre, with a dive school professionally run to international PADI standards.

Dive adventures are available for all experience levels including beginners who can be trained to full PADI certification by our resident instructors. A wide range of other watersports is also available, including deep sea fishing, snorkeling, dhow cruises, kayaking, windsurfing and water-skiing. The hotel's deck-level swimming pool is lined with glass mosaic tiles in shades of blue, and commands stunning views of the Indian Ocean.

All 32 rooms are tastefully furnished, with hand-crafted four poster beds and indigenous decor, and all have en suite facilities and balconies. Lodge rooms have a garden view and all types of chalet room have a sea view, with proximity to the ocean being closer the higher the category. Superior chalet rooms have air-conditioning , rather than the standard ceiling fan, while four superior deluxe chalet rooms also have a mini-bar, CD-player and and other deluxe facilities, ideal for honeymooners. The flag-ship Ocean Suite has a private plunge-pool and a host of luxurious facilities.

Zanzibari chefs are renowned for sumptuous seafood buffets and spicy island fare, all freshly prepared. From calamari and coconut curries to freshly grilled line fish, they'll keep your taste buds alive whilst ensuring a healthy diet.

Pool, table tennis, darts, board games (including Bau, a Zanzibari favorite) and a TV room are available to hotel guests. Mountain bikes can be hired to explore the hotel's environs, or you may simply want to take long strolls on our unspoiled beach. Relaxing massages are available.
