|
The communities in Tanzania possess some of the
richest and most diverse cultures which are as fascinating as the
national parks. People in these cultures follow ancient traditions
yet engaging on their own terms with the globalize world. Let us take
you to visit these peoples, their homes and villages. Experience their
ways of life. Walk in their countryside. Tanzania is one of the most
welcoming and peaceful and secure countries in Africa. Let us take you
to the sites so few have seen.
THE MAASAI
Go to the rural areas where traditional people live. The Maasai of
Tanzania, who number more than 430,000 live in north and north-central
Tanzania, are pastoral people who herd cattle and goats. Seasonally
moving in search of better grazing lands. Their red painted shuka
loincloth and layers of beaded jewelry that they wear, easily identify
them. The Maasai believe in one God called Ngai who they believe
lives on mount Oldoinyo Lengai in northern Tanzania. The God acts in
extraordinary events only rather than in the daily matters of life.
The Maasai firmly believe the tradition that suggests that Ngai gave
them all the cattle on the earth to care for.
The Maasai people have retained their culture for thousands of years.
Most of the visitors who come to Tanzania love to see the Maasai in
their original culture, especially their traditional attire and life
style general.
